In response to a request from the Catholic Bishop of Faisalabad, La Salle High School Mulkhanwala was opened in April 2008 as a school for the poor.
The school serves the local community which had been unable to access education as the closest school is about 5 km away and many families could not even afford bus fares for their children. The school currently has 365 students from Nursery to Grade 10, the overwhelming majority of whom are Christians. Classes are co-educational from Nursery to Grade 5, and boys-only from Grade 6 to Grade 10.
The site of La Salle High School was previously a very large school that had a vocational training facility but the school was closed and abandoned for several years prior to 2008. The buildings, complex, hostel, furnishings and equipment are in need of extensive repairs or replacement. The school has the capacity to cater for up to 500 students.
In early 2021, the Lasallian Foundation provided La Salle High School, Malkhanwala, with $1,500 for water purification.
