John Paul College is located in Rotorua, an inland city in the Bay of Plenty region in the North Island. It is a diocesan co-educational secondary school catering for 1180 students in Years 7-13. John Paul College was founded in 1985 following the amalgamation of Edmund Rice College (boys) and MacKillop College (girls).
Teachers from John Paul College have participated in the professional development program developed by the New Zealand Lasallian Mission Council for teachers in Lasallian schools in Papua New Guinea. Fundraising by teachers and students resulted in a contribution of $2,250 to the Lasallian Foundation in 2019. The funds raised were for a secondary school in Samoa which was seeking to establish links with the wider Lasallian network.
